For a startup class I’m working on Nestwise, a white-label module that banks and credit unions would put inside their own app. It uses the customer’s transaction data to build a budget, then splits the leftover money between savings and a simple investment mix. It adds engagement features (streaks, a warning before withdrawing from savings, and local merchant deals that could bring in revenue).
My thinking: the bank gets more engagement and deposits and a way to compete with neobanks without building it themselves. The customer gets it free.
Prototype with fake data
Questions for people in the industry:
- Would a bank or credit union actually buy this, or would they build it or go with an existing vendor?
- What’s the right pricing model: per user, per account, or revenue share on deals?
- What compliance issues (investment advice rules, data sharing) would kill this?
- Who at a credit union would I even pitch?
